Google’s Nearby Share feature was launched last year allowing Android users to share files and other details with Android devices nearby. But the feature hasn’t really been a huge addition to the OS. Now there is a new trick rolling out that will let users transfer apps to others.
A "Share" tab now appears in the Google Play Store. This option was first introduced in end of year 2020 and allows users to send a copy of the APK application to others by using Nearby Share.
How to enable app sharing in the Google Play Store.
- Open the Google Play Store. Navigate to my apps and games in the app menu.
- Select the Share tab.
- To share apps with others, tap the send button. To find apps, tap Find.
- On the App submissions screen, tap Continue. this feature also requires you to unlock the location of your device.
- Select as many apps as you like on the next screen by selecting their checkboxes. When you are done, Click on the green triangle at the top right.
- Before the transfer can begin, you will need to search and select a recipient. At this point, ask the intended recipient to complete steps 1 to 3 as needed.
- Once the connection is detected, both users will need to re-check that the four-digit pairing code is the same. If so, the recipient can click on Receive.
- The download will start there, and the recipient can Click On Install alongside individual apps, or Install all.
